Findable at any size.
A directory theme built around filtering, not browsing. Facets stay visible while results update, and every listing page is a real page with its own address.
Nobody browses a directory past the first hundred entries, so the design assumes filtering is the primary action and the grid is only what filtering leaves behind.
Every facet combination has an address. That means a filtered view can be linked, bookmarked and indexed, which is where most directory traffic actually comes from.
We passed four thousand listings without a redesign.

Filtering as the primary action.
Addressable facets
Every filter combination produces a real URL that can be shared, bookmarked and indexed by search engines.
Distance sorting
Optional radius filtering that degrades to a plain region list when location is unavailable or declined.
Claim workflow
Listing owners can claim an entry and edit it under moderation, without an account for every visitor.
Weighted ratings
Recent reviews count for more than old ones, so a listing cannot coast on a good year in 2019.
For directories that keep growing.
What a listing site needs once browsing stops working and search becomes the only route in.
