OVERVIEW

Wide, then narrow, and nothing awkward between.

Uses the whole desktop without abandoning the phone. A twelve-column grid at the top end that collapses to a single readable column without an intermediate mess.

Most responsive design is drawn at three sizes and interpolated everywhere else, which is why so many sites look broken at exactly the width your monitor happens to be.

This layout was drawn at five widths and checked at every hundred pixels between them. The twelve-column state is a real design rather than the mobile one stretched out.

The 1600px view is not an afterthought for once.

WHAT YOU GET

A layout drawn at five widths.

Twelve columns at the top end

A genuine wide layout above 1440px rather than a centred column with empty margins beside it.

Checked every hundred pixels

Five drawn widths with every intermediate state verified, so nothing breaks at an unusual viewport.

Full-bleed features

Feature stories break the grid entirely and return to it cleanly, at any width.

Measure held

Body text never exceeds a readable measure no matter how wide the window gets.

FULL FEATURE LIST

Editorial templates that use the space.
